The Best Kodi Addons – Covenant (2024)

Covenant is one of those uber-popular movie streaming addons for Kodi everyone has to try, and for a few good reasons. First off, it’s the major fork of Exodus coming from the same developers, Lambda.

Second, it boasts a sleek UI and straightforward categories easy to sort out. Many Kodi users say Covenant not only fills up the shoes of Exodus perfectly well but is even better than its predecessor in features and stability. Third, its libraries are impressive. And finally, it works like a charm despite reportedly being discontinued.

It’s Colossus, the repository where you could traditionally find Covenant, that’s shut down. A new repo XvBMC provides Covenant, so you can still install it. If you already have Covenant installed, it should be working, but it is not receiving updates for the time being.

Your Internet Service Provider is logging your online activities. In many countries, ISPs are authorized to sell your data without your explicit consent. In the UK, Canada, and the US, ISPs can share your data with anti-piracy groups and copyright trolls.

Also, your ISP is authorized to censor and filter your content. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that many users report being unable to find a repo containing Covenant, or when the repo is installed they can’t locate Covenant within it. This is either a case of messed-up settings, or your ISP is actively blocking you from accessing the content that’s been marked as facilitating piracy.

On top of that, your ISP is throttling your bandwidth when you stream movies online or play online games. That’s why you are well-advised to use a VPN with Kodi at all times – to protect your privacy and improve your Kodi experience.

Covenant is an unofficial Kodi addon for streaming movies. It’s definitely not legal in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, or Australia, where streaming copyrighted content for free is considered a crime. That’s why you need a VPN to protect your Kodi traffic from your snooping ISP.

Covenant as such is safe to use in a way that it’s not spreading malware. You are advised to install it from a working repository, though, and remove the discontinued Colossus.

In fact, it’s the dropped repository that could potentially be a security issue if you do not uninstall it. Malicious parties and copyright trolls can take over the domain to try and track down copyright offenders or spread malware. With that in mind, you should always uninstall any discontinued repo from your Kodi.

Covenant for Kodi 17.6 Krypton can be installed from the following repositories:

  • Lazy Kodi Repo
  • XvBMC
  • All Eyes on Me
  • Kodil

If Covenant is not working or installing correctly for you for some reason, there are plenty of working alternatives:

  • Exodus
  • Incursion
  • Poseidon
  • Placenta
  • Genesis Reborn
  • Uranus
  • IceFilms
  • Bob
  • Gurzil
  • Oculus
  1. Launch Kodi → Settings → File Manager → Add Source.
  2. In the pop-up box, choose “None” → and type http://archive.org/download/repository.xvbmc/ → OK
  3. Now name the repository XvBMC → OK.
  4. Back in Kodi main menu → Addons → choose “Package Installer” (a box-shaped icon).
  5. Choose “Install from Zip File” → XvBMC → select repository.xvbmc-4.2.0.zip → let the installation complete.
  6. After the XvBMC repository has completed its installation, go to Install from Repository → XvBMC Add-on Repository → Video Add-ons → locate Covenant on the list → choose Install. You are all set to stream movies now.

Note: you should remove Exodus if you are planning to install Covenant.
